Hair Mesh #001: "Nancy"

After weeks of edits and tests I finally finished it.. This is my first hair mesh!

I am quite nervous on releasing this... It took me a lot of time and patience...
I couldn't do it without the support and help of awesome friends, you know who you are. = )

I lost count of how many times I edited this already...
I did all LODs, I tried to make breast bones but they are very difficult, so bones are not perfect...
I tried to make fat morph, but in game the hair simply.. EXPLODED... sorry...
The poly count is very good (I think! XD) you can see it below for each LOD.
Only the polygons are calculated as the game format.
Texture is very beta as I am experimenting..

I want to make a version for The Sims 2 as well, I will try to read some tutorials, and maybe I will be uploading it too!

I have been feeling very inspired lately, and I dedicate this hair mesh to one of my favorite movies, Sin City.
I was inspired by "Nancy", interpreted by the lovely actress Jessica Alba!

Well, here it is, let me know if you like it.....   = |
UPDATE: I've fixed some gaps on the mesh, I apologize for the inconvenience.
Also I put a different texture and alpha, to compensate the update.
I also made a new simmie! XD

By the way, in case you prefer control as highlights, you can download this version.
If there are any issues I overlooked, please let me know. Sorry again~

  8. Looks great, but I'm wondering how the control is. Is it shine or highlights? It looks like shine and I'm pretty sure it is, suppose it's wishful thinking that it's highlights, lol. Cuz I really like this hair but don't care for the shine thing myself.

  10. For first hair it looks great. Which tutorials and programs did you use to create this? I'm just getting to cc making, and creating new hairs and clothes would be a dream come true for me.

  14. this is really gorgeous! truly magnificent work. i only have one tiny issues and that would be that there is too much hair in the front on her sholders. but thats just a quirk of mine. this hair is one of the best ive seen quality wise, really fantastic job!

  17. @Missa Jae, the control channel is the bright control one.

@Zeri: I agree with you, but one thing is that I am still beginning to understand how the proportions work. But if I were to redo anything, I am sure it would be this way.
Because it looks one way while modeling the mesh, and other rendered by the game, unfortunately.

All the applications I use is on the Credits page of my blog.
There is no tutorial for modeling polygon hair unfortunately, you have to play around. XD

    Thanks again everyone! ^^

  22. I forgot to add stuff...

Thanx so much for answering me. Too bad, I don't like the shine ones, otherwise I would HAVE to have this hair.

Great job on your first hair :)

I was going to ask nicely if you could do re-texture it with the highlight controls? If I didn't see some of your policy or if you don't do requests at all, please disregard this comment.

  23. Missa, it would be a pleasure, I will upload it tomorrow (today), as I think I am going to change the textures to one I prefer.

    Thanks for your comment! =)

  31. The hair sort of resembles Katherine's (brunette with glasses) hair from the Atlus video game Catherine. o.O

  34. Hi aWT. I really love this hair, the style and texture. However, I seem to encounter some kind of problem with it that, even after the gap fix you mention, is still present.

    http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p143/mur4s4me/Album%202/1e429adb.jpg

When the camera is further away, it seems some white lines start to appear all over the hair. It happens quite soon when you zoom out too. This usually happens with some CC hair when wearing CC accessories like earrings, but my sims isn't wearing ANY accessories.

It's annoying since I REALLY love that hair, but it easily ruins my screenshots. Any fix to that?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mura, thank you for your report.
I took a look into it, I have absolutely no idea what is causing that problem.
    It is present here too.
My guess is that it is the presence of the morphs generated even though none was made.
I will try to port in the mesh manually without any morph, and see, I hope you are still watching this post, so you know of any progress, I report here.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I'm definitely still watching aWT, and I'm happy to know that you'll look into it.

I'll wait patiently for your next report.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't have any reports as for now as I didn't do anything yet.

However I think there are lots of things to fix in this hair, not only that. You know, first one, lots of problems! XD
I do want to remake it better, because I love Nancy that much!

Thanks for being patient with me that much too! ッ

    ReplyDelete
  38. You must be quite motivated for that! I mean, you haven't started meshing hair for a long time (and let me say that I'm extremely impressed by the results), and you already have the urge to go back and remake the first one!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Mura, thank you very much, I am really glad to hear you like the results.
I have much to learn still, and I have to poke my tutors more often!
But yes, I like this style a lot, I think it looks quite big though, like very wide on the head.

IT was smaller at first, perhaps I made it too wide...
But if I make it less wide, it looks quite "squished" on fat sims...

    I have to experiment... XD

    ReplyDelete
  40. Hmm. I think it doesn't look too wide, especially when you compare to similar styles done by other creators, such as Cazy, Anto and Raon. Experimenting with it will surely help.

I'm not sure, but I believe that the hair going down the shoulders towards the front might be a tad bit wide around the breast area, which might also put emphasis on that "wide" aspect you're referring to.
